Job Description
A Postdoctoral Researcher position is available at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, College of Science, UAE University. The position is funded by the Research grant "Implementation of Numerical computing in Mathematics curriculum" by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in UAE. The position is for one year with possibility of renewal or extension depending on the availability of funding. The package include a monthly salary of 10000-13000 AED (depending on qualification and experience) and medical insurance. The focus of the research is in Mathematics Education.
The candidate is required to know the basics about some computer programming languages (for example, Python). He/she must have experiences in teaching standard Mathematics courses like calculus, linear algebra and differential equations. He/she will then implement the Numerical computing parts (by using Python) into the Mathematics curriculum for those courses. Part of the duties is to demonstrate the usefulness of the numerical computing parts in lab classes to students, and hold workshops for high school teachers.
The candidate will be expected to share his time at the partner institution Canadian University Dubai. The duties include teaching Calculus courses in the partner institution.
Requirements
Minimum Qualification
PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or related degrees.
Preferred Qualification
PhD in Mathematics
Expected Skills/Rank/Experience
(1) years of experience in teaching standard calculus, linear algebra and differential equations courses to undergraduate students from diverse background. Some experience in publishing papers in international journals
