Principal Environmental Consultant

Job description / Role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Environmental Consultant to join our regional HQ in Abu Dhabi to help us deliver high level consultancy services and lead our team of environmental scientists and engineers.

Duties and responsibilities will include:
- Manage environmental projects from bid to implementation stages
- Carry out Environmental Impact Assessments, Strategic Environmental Assessments, Environmental Management Plans, Construction Environmental Management Plans, including the co-ordination and management of internal specialists and sub-consultants, and environmental baseline studies
- Work on Policy Development, Environmental Planning, ESIA, Environmental Due Diligence, Permitting And Environmental Management
- Ensure technical Reviews are undertaken on all deliverables in accordance with local legislation and best practice
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients and the regulatory authorities
- Manage project financial performance
- Develop and implement winning proposal strategies and provide technical input for multi-disciplinary bids
- Provide environmental support to other projects in the region where necessary
- Mentoring of junior staff

Requirements

- Relevant degree and MSc/second degree from an accredited University.
- 10+ years experience in related field, 5 of which gained in an international environmental consultancy
- Oil & gas industry experience required, other regulated industries helpful
- Middle East experience essential
- Working knowledge of national and international environmental legislation, trends, case law, standards and guidance
- Working relationships with regulatory authorities, both local and regional
- Sound written and verbal communication skills together with interpersonal skills and ability to develop key relationships
- Expertise in preparing literate, high quality reports
- Competent at Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Project
- Willing to travel in the Middle East
