Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

• Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental management.
• Maintain relevant QHSE documentation.
• Implement QHSE compliance relating to local municipal legislation, regulation and international standards.
• Prepare applicable QHSE reports as necessary.
• Support and advise QHSE non-compliance and remedial action to the management team.
• Participate in detailed incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis. Escalate significant risk to the management team.
• Promote incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors.
• Assist in the development and presentation of relevant QHSE training (toolbox talks and inductions)
• Observe the RSS QHSE management system and ensure that employees comply accordingly (PPE requirements, safe work process and risk assessment).
• Work with employees and achieve QHSE cultural change in the face of potential resistance
• Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as our customers and municipal regulatory agencies.
• Conduct daily QHSE inspections and provide instruction/guidance when required.
• Conduct a monthly QHSE meeting with employees.
• Evaluate and ensure the correct use and maintenance of PPE.
• Assist with the development and implementation of Risk Assessments focusing on the following ‘high risk’ work processes.
• Electrical work (Risk Assessment, LOTO).
• Working at height (Risk Assessment, fall prevention, protection, restraint).
• Crane lift operations (Risk Assessment, lift planning, equipment inspection).
• Hot Work (Risk Assessment, permit to work, fire prevention/suppression).
• Assist in emergency response and provide first aid treatment when required.
• Assist with and oversee safety QHSE incentive programs (Safety Save, Quality Gem).
• Perform additional QHSE related projects as assigned by the Area Operations Manager and Group QHSE Manager.

Requirements

• Health, Safety and Environment (NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent).
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a HSE Coordinator/Specialist.
• Knowledge of Safety and Quality standards (OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001)
