Job Description
A research assistant position is vacant in Veterinary Parasitology and Molecular biology. The successful applicant will work in a 2 year project at the Veterinary Medicine Department, under the supervision of Dr. Moneeb Qablan. The successful candidate will assist in implementing the work set out in a grant titled as "Pathogen risk assessment on aArabian felines in United Arab Emirates and Oman". The work will involve field work and collection of blood, faecal and ectoparasites samples from captive and wild populations of Arabian Felines. As well, the work demands knowledge and strong experience in DNA isolation, PCR, Sequencing, phylogenetic analysis, NGS and the subsequent preparation of scientific publications.
Requirements
Minimum Qualification
At least the applicant must have a master degree in Veterinary Medicine or Biology with strong and evident experience in Parasitology and molecular biology fields.
Preferred Qualification
Applicant must have a very strong command of English with evident proficiency in scientific writing. Background in bioinformatics is an advantage.
Expected Skills/Rank/Experience
The applicant is expected to be dynamic and highly motivated to work independently and with other team members.
