Job Description
The Pediatric Neuromodulation Laboratory at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is announcing the position of a research assistant in Neuroscience. The lab focuses on understanding the mechanisms underlying motor and cognitive recovery following early brain injury using non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) techniques.

The research project, for which this position is advertised, will investigate the effect of non-invasive brain stimulation techniques on morphological and molecular changes in normal and oxygen-glucose deprived neonatal primary neurons and neuronal cell lines.

The applicant must have previous experience in common methodologies in neuroscience cell-culture techniques such as primary neuronal/glial cell culturing from p3 pups, neuronal cell line maintenance, inverted fluorescence & confocal microscopy, Immunocytochemistry, Western Blotting, Real-time PCR and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography.
Additionally, the candidate should be able to care for and handle laboratory animals (rat and mice), to maintain accurate records of experimental procedures and to perform basic mathematical and statistical computation and analysis.

Requirements

Minimum Qualification
The Applicant should have a Master's degree in neuroscience or biological sciences with a minimum of 2-year experience in neuroscience research.

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience
Ability to work in a team, to communicate effectively and proficiently in English language and to have good organizational skills to maintain records and to conduct him/herself at the highest professional level.
