Job Description

General Responsibilities:
- Carry out experiments, perform data analysis, including the statistical analysis, and be involved in interpretation and communication of main results.
- Participate in the training and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students.
- Be responsible for the technical development, maintenance and troubleshooting of the relevant laboratory equipment.
- Ensure that safe laboratory practices are followed.

Specific Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Independently conduct experiments involving daily injections in mice.
- Blood extraction and analysis by spectrophotometry.
- Maintenance of animal colony.
- Conduct experiments involving surgical techniques as well as isolation and purification of specific cell populations using different purification techniques (autoMACS, FACs sorter).
- Conduct experiments involving mammalian cell isolation and primary cell culture methodologies
- Conduct experiments involving general molecular biology techniques including PCR, RNA preparation/extraction and gel electrophoresis, immunocytochemistry, and ELISA
- Assist in training and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students on specific laboratory techniques relevant to their projects (animal handling, molecular and cellular assays).
- Train and supervise other research staff recruited on grants, graduate and undergraduate students.

Requirements

Minimum Qualification:
- B.Sc. degree in a relevant discipline.

Preferred Qualification
- Demonstrated prior experience in animal care and handling and cell culture techniques is essential.

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience
- Minimum 5 years in academic or research institution setting and/or in the relevant scientific field.
