School Librarian

Job description / Role

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable School Librarian to join our educational institution in UAE. The School Librarian will be responsible for managing the library, curating a diverse collection of resources, and promoting a love for reading and learning among students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for literature, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to create an engaging and welcoming library environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensures that the library plays an integral role in supporting inquiry, and that students have easy access to e-Resources.
• Collaborates with teachers to develop information literacy across the school through participating in or leading information literacy and digital literacy coaching.
• Ensure that resources are catalogued, organized and maintained in line with accepted standard library practice.
• Stay aware of developing trends and facilities for storage and access to e-Resources
• Develops library resources procurement plan and strategies that ensure the library delivers appropriate, high quality material—print and online
• Manages the Integrated Library System effectively by updating and editing of bibliographic and catalogue data on the system
• Promotes the library services and resources to all staff and students
• Maintains up-to-date school library procedures documents
• Develops and contribute to the school wide reading culture through reading programs, initiatives and events.
• Monitors student use of the library and library equipment as set out in the library policy.
• Ensures the safety at all times of students and academic staff whilst in the library
• Assists in the preparation of display boards/bulletins and scheduled library events
• Coordinates school-wide guidance and training for all staff and students in effective use of resources, online catalogue and database
• Ensures to periodically update the reporting manager on damaged and stolen books

Salary:
AED 5,000 to 6,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
Additional benefits: Child's fees waived off + transport

Requirements

Qualifications & skills

• Graduate /Post Graduate in Library Science (REGULAR) - from recognized universities
• Minimum 3-5 years’ -experience in the similar position
• Local Experienced candidates will be preferred.
• ICSE / CBSE experience is preferred.
• Having KHDA/SPEA/ADEK approval in the same position is required.
• Candidates on Spouse/Dependant Visa are majorly considered.
• Visa will be provided only if no suitable candidates are available on Spouse/Dependant Visa

Salary - AED 5000/per month gross+Transport + Child Education Fee waive Off
Salary is negotiable for the right candidate
