Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The school principal serves as the educational leader, responsible for ensuring that all students are supervised in a safe way that meets the approved curricula. As a principal with specialist behavior intervention experience you will be assigned to a school which requires extra support in terms of behavior management. The expectation is that you will put an intervention plan into place which will quickly improve the behavior of the school therefore improving outcomes for students.

Responsibilities:

* To work with the Cluster Manager in leading and managing a school to achieve the highest possible outcomes for students.
* To take responsibility for all aspects of self-evaluation, delivery of a challenging curriculum and manage a team of teachers and support staff.
* To line manage the Pastoral Managers for each year group ensuring they are proving students with the support they need to succeed.
* Ensure staff are empowered to deal with behavior issues themselves inside the classroom.
* To take responsibility for the leadership and management of the School. This will include ensuring a provision appropriate to the needs of young people at the school in line with the 'Emirati School Model' which offers a broad range of different curriculums.
* To have responsibility for the day-to-day line management of a staff team compromising teacher and support staff. To meet with them regularly to monitor the implementation of all the Ministry aims and procedures, and to evaluate their performance.
* To sustain a close connection with, and knowledge of new relevant projects, schemes of work, types of approaches and perspectives on the approach to and management of emotional, social and behavior difficulties.
* To understand the specific context of students in public schools in the UAE and provide the support required to ensure students achieve.
* To develop staff skills around working with complex and challenging pupil behavior.
* To support colleagues to develop and implement student's individual or personal learning plans, incorporating target setting and ensuring all students progress at expected rates and achieve in the exams according to their level.
* To effectively liaise with schools in the cluster
* To attend meetings in schools and the Ministry where appropriate and develop good working relationships with them.
* To ensure the maintenance of discipline, ethos and attendance, and the implementation of relevant good practice.
* To ensure a comprehensive structure for regular team meetings, day-to-day line management, supervision, performance management and development for all staff, including awareness of training needs.
* To deploy and manage all teaching and support staff of the school and allocate particular duties to them in a manner consistent with their conditions of employment in line with the Ministry of Education directives.
* To ensure all staff receive information they need in order to carry out their professional duties effectively
* To work with the Ministry of Education to recruit staff of the highest quality available
* The role will be non-class based, however there is an expectation that you may teach classes to model good practice, develop relationships, support training and development and ensure first quality teaching and secure the smooth running of the school, or fill in where there is a staffing crises.
* The Principal will lead by example of their practice, and by positively encouraging and supporting all members of staff.
* To build confident with parents to have trust in the school and the education their child is receiving.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Essential

* Qualified teacher status
* NPQH or recent additional professional qualification
* A graduate qualification

Desirable

* Professional qualification in staff development, for example, CPID Diploma in Learning & Development

Experience:

Essential

* A minimum of 3 years membership of a senior leadership team in a secondary school
* Experience of raising standards in a school which has been in an OfSTED category / required significant improvement

Skills/competence

Essential

* Excellent written and verbal skills in English, for non-native speakers, a minimum of IELTs 7.0 Academic or 7.5 overall with no less than 6.5 in any skill

Other requirements

* Satisfactory enhanced DBS check and references.
