Job description / Role
JOB PURPOSE:
To develop, manage and implement all financial reporting and accounting related matters within the bank in order to ensure alignment and compliance with external standards and internal policies and procedures.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Financial Accounting and Reporting:
Maintain, control and monitor all financial accounting related matters and assist in preparation of financial reports in accordance with IFRS to ensure that reporting is accurate and delivered within the timelines set by the regulators and external/internal stakeholders
Budget Preparation:
Assist MIS division with information to formulate budgets and forecast to the required standard in order to facilitate the delivery of the bank’s budget in an accurate and timely manner
General Ledger (GL) Review:
Review the GL to provide reasonable assurance that the debits and credits are valid, accurate and complete and give reasonable assurance that the transactions recorded in the GL are appropriate and compliant with all finance related policies and regulations
Funds Accounting:
Maintain and review fund accounting records to ensure reporting is done in an accurate manner and delivered within the timelines set by the regulators and external/internal stakeholders
Risk Management:
Monitor and comply with risk management policies and procedures to ensure reporting risks are minimized
Business and Analytical:
Provide timely and robust financial analysis to support business decision-making
Relationship Management:
Develop and maintain effective communication and positive working relationships with the internal and external stakeholders to ensure Finance standards and policies/procedures are well understood by the stakeholders
Policies, Processes, Systems and Procedures:
Adhere to all relevant organisational and departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out to the required standard and in a consistent manner while delivering the required standard of service to customers and stakeholders
Self-Management:
Manage self in line with the bank’s people management policies, procedures, processes and practices to ensure adherence and to maximise own contribution to business performance
Customer Service Demonstrate Our Promise and apply the ADCB Service Standards to deliver the bank’s required levels of service in all internal and external customer interactions
Requirements
Minimum Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in accounting and the preparation of financial statements of banks
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
Professional Qualifications:
Chartered Accountant or other equivalent qualification
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards
Experience with banking accounting principles and procedures
Ability to develop and establish financial policies and procedures
Knowledge of operating and capital budget concepts.
Ability to analyse financial data and to prepare accurate reports in a timely fashion
Knowledge and ability in the use of a personal computer and software applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint etc.)
Ability to effectively use a modern automated financial management system
Knowledge of Flexcube, Desktop Intelligence
Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records
