Senior Infrastructure and Operations Engineer

Job description / Role

My client, a multinational oil and gas organization based in Dubai is seeking a Senior Infrastructure and Operations Engineer. Reporting to the IT Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for configuring, monitoring and maintaining the companies network environment, collaborate closely with development teams and IT personnel to develop, migrate, and manage applications using cloud services.

Key Accountabilities of the position include:

IT Support
• Responsible for the configuration, deployment, administration, monitoring, analysis, and support of on-premise/cloud services and applications
• Provide strategy & support for all Office 365 applications
• Maintenance of WAN over VPN globally using SonicWALL firewall & VPN modules, CISCO routers & HP layer 3 switches, Wireless Access Points, Avaya IP PBX systems, etc.
• Responsible for managing service operations and the support process following ITIL principals for Incident/problem management
• Management of all outsource IT support

Network Management
• Ensure network connectivity throughout a company's LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations
• Automate system monitoring, operations, and maintenance tasks by creating scripts and applications and/or recommending and implementing off-the-shelf tools.
• Reassess and improve cloud infrastructure as cloud offerings evolve
• Maintenance of Entire Network of the company
• Optimise cloud resources to maximise ROI

Server Management
• WINDOWS Servers, Windows SQL Servers, DNS, DHCP,ADS,FTP server, File server /Print Servers, Firewall, Email Security, Web Filters, etc.
• Office 365 management

Disaster Recovery
• Ownership of the Disaster Recovery plan/process

Data Backup
• Ensuring the data backup and availability as per Backup policy
• Daily backups of all Identified critical data to run the business smoothly

Installation and Maintenance
• Antivirus Solutions across the Group
• Infrastructure hosting JD Edwards, Cognos, Data Warehousing
• Data Centre (Azure)
• Autoloaders (Tape Libraries) across the group for automated backups
• Improve the response time of all IT assets Q-O-Q

Salary:
AED 23,000 to 28,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following background:

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• MCSE/MCSA
• ITIL Foundation

Minimum Experience:
• 8 years in software/systems administration

Job-Specific Skills:
• Minimum 3 years’ hands-on experience with Azure Cloud.
• Well versed with Windows Azure Platform, Computing (Web and Worker Roles), Caching, Service Bus, and Storage services (table storage, blob storage, Drives) and Scaling.
Experience in Windows Azure Technologies (CDN, ACS, Notification services, SQL Azure, Blobs, and Traffic Manager).
• Experience in Active Directory, WinOS performance tuning, DNS/DHCP Windows Operating Systems (Server 2003, Server 2008, Server 2012) & Microsoft IIS Web servers
• Experience working with high traffic web sites and web services.
• Experience in implementing dynamic scalability and reliability in Azure.
• A solid understanding of cloud computing, IAAS, PaaS, SaaS and Cloud design patterns.
