About the team

Mobility is one core pillar of Careem's mission of simplifying lives. To complement our ride-hailing and bikes offering, we launched our Car Rental offering in 2022 to give users the choice to rent or subscribe to self-driven cars for a few days up to a few months, with the convenience and trust that users come to expect, rightfully so, with a Careem service. The team that's behind this offering is a nimble team of startup enthusiasts who work with a continuous improvement, test and learn mindset. They hustle through challenges, cut the clutter and focus on scaling a business which is still in its infancy.

About The Role

Having proven PMF, the business is ripe to enter its next stage of maturity. As we take the business there, we need to re-think our supply strategy, and diversify our supplier base and move to a more scalable, customer-centric solution. In addition to de-risking growth, we need to forge strategic supply partnerships that will unlock competitive advantage for Careem in terms of preferred access to fleet, better commercials as well as streamlined operations.

As such, we are looking for a strategically-oriented commercial manager who would have 2 broad mandates: (1) secure partnerships to unlock differentiated supply access, (2) own the commercial growth & scale-up agenda from the supply-side

What you'll do

- Commercial growth: Co-own the commercial growth and scale-up targets for Careem's car rental offering, identifying sustainable growth opportunities in the market, and working with marketing teams to drive growth initiatives
- Supply partnership strategy: Formulate rental supply partnership strategy and approach based on car rental & leasing ecosystem players to enable competitive pricing and car availability for Careem's car rental offering
- Commercial negotiations & planning: Conduct ongoing joint business planning with suppliers and lead ongoing negotiations to get market-beating pricing and commercial outcomes for Careem
- Business development & onboarding: Set up new partnerships ground-up, starting from lead generation and outreach to contracting and onboarding.
- Key Account Management: Develop strong long-lasting relationships with partners stakeholders, keeping them highly engaged and committed to Careem
- SLA governance: Enable differentiated experiences for customers by setting, monitoring and ensuring adherence SLAs for non-commercial commitments from suppliers, including streamlined processes, delivery management, timeliness of information sharing etc. Implement carrot and stick approaches to ensure SAL
- Partner with internal teams: Thought partner for product, operations and care teams to meet growth and customer experience objectives

Requirements

What you'll need

- 5+ years of relevant experience in Key Account Management, Business Development & Commercial roles, preferably in tech/startup space
- Business acumen and commercial mindset to drive growth
- Strong understanding of UAE rental and leasing market (trends, players, etc)
- Excellent people skills and negotiation skills to achieve win-win outcomes
- Ability to create and maintain relationships across all levels of the organization
- Ability to empathize with customer pain-points and define solutions to mitigate experience risks
- Comfortable in driving short & long-term partnership projects through structured project management approaches
