A high profile banking client based in Dubai is actively looking for an experienced Database Manager to lead a team of DBAs as well as deliver project work for the financial services client.

This role will be responsible for the planning, implementation, configuration, and administration of all database management systems in the organization. The database environment is varied and includes Oracle (primary) as well as SQL Server and Sybase technologies. Candidates will need experience of working with Oracle technologies, ideally with exposure to the e-Business suite. Any experience with SQL and Sybase will be extremely beneficial.

Requirements

The successful Database Manager will be responsible for the delivery of all database services to the Bank’s critical applications. You will be required to ensure that SLAs are met and that the security and integrity of data is maintained accordingly.

As part of a continuous improvement programme, the Database Manager will also be tasked with enhancing and improving the current availability, stability and efficiency of the database environment. Any candidates with experience in improving database performance and utilizing new innovative tools or technologies will be of specific interest.

Given the nature of the environment, the team will be required to provide 24 x 7 support.

The successful Database Manager will also need the ability to motivate and coach the team of database administrators. As such, candidates should have strong experience in developing others around them as well as successful methods of leading teams. Furthermore, ideally candidates should be capable of working hands-on if required.

Due to the complexity and critical element of the systems, candidates will need prior experience of working within financial services.
