Senior Operations Manager - Steel

Job description / Role

International Structural Steel business based in the United Arab Emirates is looking to recruit a strong & dynamic Senior Operations Manager. Reporting directing into the General Manager for the business you will be directly responsible for all aspects of operations.

These operations will range from managing the multiple Fabrication & Processing Facilities, Coordinating all Projects, Handling a Design & Documentation team.

There will also be coordination with the Commercial Director, Business Development Manager & General Manger relating to certain Pre Award / Pre Construction aspects.

Fair to say that your role will be 85% bias towards the successful delivery, handover and day to day running of the very busy existing order book. Working closely alongside the management team you will plan, analyse and produce time frames to fit with existing projects.

Forward thinking is essential in this role as with them servicing a global market you need to be a forward planner capable of delivering on contractual terms and client requirements in this intensely competitive sector.

This business has gone from strength to strength in the past few years building upon a solid foundation of 50+ Years in business across the Globe. With current operations, projects and offices in Europe, Asia, USA & UAE you will be joining an extremely stable & cash rich business.

Working within a 75% Western / European Management team the business adopts the same professional working standards in the UAE as they would elsewhere in the world. So everything from worker welfare to HR disputes are handled in a modern fair manner.

Due to the nature of the work that they do they haven’t been affected by the global construction crisis of 2008-2009 due to the large client pool they hold, geographical areas covered and also most importantly being able to offer world class engineering in both the production of steel & manufacture and erect side of the business.

The business has been involved in some of the most iconic projects that involve steel within Airport Terminals & Transportation, High Rise Steel Structures, Sports Stadiums, Oil & Gas Offshore, Petrochemical & Bridges.

Requirements

Whether you have been acting in a Contracts Manager capacity (UK Terminology), Operations Manager or Project Director on a multi million steel project please apply.

Outside of just pure technical knowledge the business wants to hire someone with a good attitude and sense of humour that can get buy in and commitment from the staff that will be reporting into he or she.

- Understand the sector , suppliers , competitors and challenges
- Have an experience up through the ranks so you can talk at a technical level with: Production Manager, Project Manager or prospective clients.
- Have strong IT Skills
- Able to communicate , motivate and drive a happy workforce
- Have in the region of 15-20 Years Industry Experience within Steel Construction & Fabrication.
