Senior Piping Designer

Job description / Role

Wood has been awarded a major project with ADNOC and, we are looking to hire a Senior Designer (Piping) to be based at our Abu Dhabi Engineering Center.

- Carry out all necessary drafting support related to in-house studies, assessment of layout changes, updating master plot plan and other miscellaneous layout drawings
- Apply knowledge of CAD techniques as required in addition to the ability to produce detailed design drawings without guidance
- Review Contractor's bulk piping drawings (i.e., Piping GA's, Isometrics, layouts) and ensure compliance with client contract, project specification, relevant codes and standards, piping design/layout philosophy and Drawing office practice compliance
- Actively participate in site surveys of facilities to establish and identify actual layout requirements and physical changes at site. Prepares "As-built" mark-ups and produces Master Drawings
- Provide designer's expertise while selecting the locations of pipe supports in the drawings/3D model
- Participate in design co-ordination with engineers and other disciplines in the review process of piping layout drawings and 3D model
- Participate in Layout & 3D Model workshops
- Develop detailed design elements using information from various sources which may include site studies, vendor drawings, catalogue data, engineering sketches, reference drawings and input from other disciplines.

Requirements

- Bachelor Degree or 3 year Diploma in Engineering with strong knowledge of discipline specific drafting skills, codes and standard practices
- High level of drafting skills using AutoCAD, GTX Roster CAD, MS-Office, SP3D & SPR
- Excellent computer skills including word processor, spread sheets and other applications.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in oil and gas industry with comprehensive hands-on experience in CAD design (i.e. Auto-CAD, Smart Plant 3D, Smart plant Review) with Piping background
- Experience and detailed knowledge of relevant drafting requirements
- Experienced with piping layout and modeling computer programs.
- Experienced with review of piping bulk deliverables (i.e. General Arrangement Drawings, Detailed module layouts, Isometrics, Piping Support Schedule, etc.)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good technical team and interpersonal skills
