Job description / Role
Purpose: To manage the procurement of grain, milk, sugar and all products related ingredients whilst ensuring adequate supply of materials to meet production needs and maintaining low costs and stock levels.
Key Accountabilities
• Identifying suppliers for materials required
• Evaluation and negotiation of purchase contracts
• People management: including appropriate staffing levels, recruitment and development of individuals
• Define the Monthly Purchasing strategy for commodities across the group.
• Run the Commodity Risk Committee Meeting
• Maintain and further establish grain trading sales
• Close supervision of all Grain and Commodity tenders and sourcing activities
• Planning and budgeting purchasing requirements
• Coordination with production and commercial departments to understand needs and ensure accurate forecasting
• Develop Category strategy for optimal market entry points for commodity purchasing.
• Assess financial instrument utilisation for price fixing
• Managing the relationship with all suppliers
• Monitoring international prices of grain and raw materials
• Managing the Commodities Team
Requirements
• Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or equivalent
• Additional professional purchasing certification preferred
• 10 years Grains trading or Grains Purchasing experience out of which 3 to 5 years should be in an equivalent Management level, preferably within a FMCG/Manufacturing environment
Job-Specific Skills:
• Strong understanding of international Grains and other Commodity markets, price determining factors, macro economics
• Full and complete understanding of Grain Purchase and sales process and documentation including, shipping, GAFTA contracts, claims process.
