Senior Site Supervisor

Job description / Role

The Waste Management - Senior Site Supervisor is a supervisory level class which, under direction from the Projects Manager, plans, organizes, and assigns work to staff engaged in collection operations within an assigned geographical area, transfer station or disposal operation based on the needs of the projects for efficient and effective productivity, and ensure that waste collection service is delivered in accordance with the contractual agreement and job requirements. Ensure that site duties are completed in compliance with the health & safety procedures and required standards, whilst complying with all relevant legalization and accepted industry practices.

Duties and responsibilities
- Plans, directs, and reviews the work of project staff engaged in day-to-day operation activities in assigned areas of responsibility;
- Supervising the transportation of waste to ensure that it takes place efficiently without contaminating air, land or water sources;
- Monitors expenditures against budget and ensures program budget objectives are being met;
- Recommends, implements and measures improvements in customer service;
- Ensuring compliance with current legislation in the transportation, handling and disposal of waste;
- Directs the development and implementation of supervisory and maintenance staff training programs on methods, procedures, equipment, regulatory requirements and technical operation of the unit;
- Directs and reviews field investigations in response to complaints concerning conditions of facilities, regulatory issues, or actions of operations personnel;
- Consulting with the governmental sectors such as Dubai Municipality about waste management issues, identifying their requirements and providing appropriate solution;
- Management of site Health & Safety by identifying risks and how to deal with it when necessary to meet required site standard and in accordance with current health and safety requirements;
- Carry out necessary tools box talk as and when required to do so.

Requirements

- Education: High School Degree.
- Professional Certification: Possession of, or ability to obtain environmental Certificate.
- Specialized knowledge: Operations , Manpower, & fleet management
- Skills: Multitasked, Problem identification and solving skills, Ability to make good decisions (judgment and common sense).
- Computer Skills: Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, e-mail, internet, etc.).
- Abilities: tackle tasks logically, and perseverance to see through all obstacles, ability to train others, schedule and assign work, prioritize and coordinate projects.
- Other characteristics such as personal characteristics: Cooperative, good listener, Ability to work a flexible schedule and to work evenings, weekends and holidays as requested.
- Experience: 3 years + in the same or similar field.
