Job Title: Senior Specialist - Supervision
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
The Specialist Supervision is a role within the Supervision Section. The Supervision Section is responsible for monitoring the safety and soundness of banks, insurers, money service providers, and capital markets intermediaries. The Section undertakes impact/risk assessments of individual financial institutions which will drive the frequency and intensity of the supervisory approach. The Section adopts holistic supervision underpinned by a risk-based supervisory approach. The Senior Specialist role works closely with the Managers and Senior Managers to assist in the implementation of the supervisory framework and the supervision of a portfolio of financial institutions, consistently with regulations risk appetite, and international best practices. This role has a strong financial crime focus and requires relevant Financial Crime prevention experience/Knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Responsibilities:
• Assist in the implementation of the short- and long-term objectives of the Supervision Section.
• Assist in developing, enhancing, and implementing the framework, policies, rules, and procedures for governing and supervising financial institutions

Operational Responsibilities:
• Responsible for supervising firms’ compliance with relevant rules and regulations and in their periodic impact/risk assessment, with support from the Director/Senior Manager/Manager.
• Responsible for the periodic risk assessment of firms, the drafting of the supervisory work plan, and the execution of the supervisory work plan, including the planning and executing of supervisory reviews and drafting and communication of recommendations, with support from the Director/Senior Manager/ Manager.
• Responsible for the ongoing analysis of the prudential condition of the assigned institutions and their conduct of business and compliance with the Financial Crime Prevention framework with support from the Director/Senior Manager/Manager.
• Responsible for/assist in taking prompt action against deficiencies and non-compliances identified including periodic follow-up to ensure timely resolution of deficiencies.
• Build relationships with regulated institutions and other stakeholders, both internal and external.
• Assist in implementing policies, rules, and processes, including appropriate documentation for all assigned institutions.
• Deliver additional tasks that may be delegated from the Director/ Senior Manager Supervision.
• Liaise with other internal stakeholders such as Authorization and/or other groups, as appropriate.
• Participate and deliver on projects that may be allocated thereto.

Information Security Related:
• Understand, adapt, adhere to, and practice responsibilities or controls as per Information Security policy and as per best practices explained in the induction and awareness sessions.
• Maintain confidentiality, Integrity, and availability of the information at all times i.e. within as well as outside the institution.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:
• Min 6-8 years of experience in financial supervision or industry experience in asset and wealth management, Funds, Contracts for Differences, and/or Virtual Assets, specifically relevant Financial Crime prevention experience/Knowledge in one or more of these sectors.
• Good communication skills both in writing and orally.

Education:
• Bachelor's degree in one of the following disciplines: Finance, Banking and Accounting, Risk Management, or related discipline.
• Arabic speakers and understanding of the Arabic Culture are desirable.
