Senior Specialist (UAE National) - Enterprise Risk Management

About ERM

Internal Audit helps Mubadala ensure it is managing its risks as effectively and efficiently as possible. We report to the Mubadala Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee, a sub-committee of the Board, and provide them with comfort that Mubadala's investments are being managed appropriately. We aim to be collaborative partners and trusted advisors for the business, by delivering audits, advisory reviews and supporting the Business Units on Audit, Risk and Compliance Committees at our investments

The Challenge

As Mubadala moves to the next phase of maturity our focus is to realize the value of our assets and expand our investment footprint globally. To ensure we do this effectively, we have strengthened our Risk Management approach by developing and implementing an Enterprise Risk Management Framework. This will enable us to provide insight into the risks we face and better inform decisions on our portfolio, individual investments and operating assets.

The Senior Specialist of Enterprise Risk Management will support with the implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management framework, focusing mainly on risk assessment, monitoring and reporting activities. They will support with the planning and execution of risk assessment at platform and operating asset levels, compile and manage risk data through the Risk Information Management System, and assist with the preparation of risk reports. They will also provide support to Mubadala corporate and business platforms and assets, as required.

Key Responsibilities

- Support with the revision of ERM Framework documentation as part of continual review and improvement of Mubadala's Enterprise Risk Management approach.
- Collect and compile risk information from various sources and in various formats
- Aggregate information and perform data analysis to enable the prioritization of risks and assessment of risk concentrations, correlations and interdependence
- Undertake continuous monitoring and reporting on risks at various levels in the organisation
- Prepare risk reports for various audiences.
- Assist with the planning and preparation of materials for risk assessments
- Support with the execution of risk assessments, mainly for business platforms and assets
- Provide support to Business Platform teams, regarding the management of risks, as required.
- Support with the implementation of functional policies, systems, processes and procedures, and continuously identify opportunities for improvement to ensure compliance with Mubadala's standards and regulatory requirements, aligned to business requirements, and to increase operational effectiveness.
- Perform other related duties or assignments, as required.

Requirements

Qualifications

Knowledge, skills and experience

- Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering or a quantitative science. Masters degree or higher is preferred
- Certified or working towards a professional certification in Enterprise Risk Management, Financial Risk Management, Investment Management, or Financial Analysis.
- Minimum of 5 years of directly relevant experience in ERM, Business/Financial Analysis, or Financial Risk Management, within leading consulting firm, financial institution (investment focus preferred), or with a major organisation in an industry in which Mubadala has significant interest
- International and GCC experience.
- Knowledge of leading practices, concepts and trends in ERM in different organizations and asset classes (private equity, public equity, real estate, and funds);
- Clear understanding of Enterprise Risk Management Standards (ISO3100, COSO, Bespoke Corporate) and the relationship between ERM, Financial Risk Management, Internal Audit, Business Continuity and Compliance Management
- Familiarity with Governance, Risk and Compliance Information management software and well-known sources of information/intelligence on risk
- Good research and analytical skills
- General awareness of the organizational context and role of Sovereign Investment Funds
- Experience of conducting desktop analysis, interviews and workshops, in the context of risk management
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic.
