Ship Chandler - Operator

Job description / Role

We are seeking a Ship Chandler - Operator to join our team in Sharjah, UAE. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the supply and delivery of provisions, equipment, and services to ships. The role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced maritime environment.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee the supply and delivery of provisions, equipment, and services to ships in port or at sea
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions and communicate effectively with ship captains, crew, and suppliers
- Ensure that all supplies and services meet quality and safety standards, and comply with relevant regulations
- Manage inventory levels and procurement processes to ensure adequate stock and timely delivery
- Negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and favorable terms for the procurement of supplies and services
- Monitor and track shipments, resolve any discrepancies or issues, and provide timely updates to relevant stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to optimize logistical processes and enhance customer satisfaction
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Salary:
AED 3,000 to 4,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.

Requirements

- Proven experience in a similar role within the maritime or logistics industry
- Excellent knowledge of supply chain management, procurement processes, and maritime regulations
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and documentation
- Adaptability and resilience to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in relevant software and systems for inventory management and procurement
- Commitment to upholding high standards of quality, safety, and compliance
