Employment: Full Time

Key purpose
The purpose of this position is to maintain Signalling & Communication systems assets as stipulated under the maintenance standards of Serco Dubai Airport Automated People Mover.

Reason for role
To carry out day to day Signalling & Communication maintenance activities required at the Dubai Airport People Mover

Structure and reporting relationship
This role is part of the Engineering and Maintenance management team and reports directly to the APM Signalling & Communication Team Leader.

Key accountabilities
• With the supervision of S&C team leader to carry out in the field preventive and corrective maintenance activities and minor modifications on ATS, ATP, SSI, ATO, Switch Machine, Fiber Optics, Audio Communication, Train Control system , CCTV , RAS and any other parts within the S&C system;
• Lead a team as Person In Charge (PIC) to carry out preventive and corrective maintenance works as well as fault attendance, diagnosis test, trouble-shooting of S&C systems.
• Driving APM trains in Manual Mode as directed by the OCC
• Supervise and diagnose cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment, replace faulty equipment and handover/taken back to the electrical workshop for repair;
• Ensure maintenance activities are planned and records are updated in Maintenance Management System (MMS);
• Ensure the maintenance tools and equipment are kept in good condition;
• Plans, co-ordinates and implements maintenance and servicing activities to achieve performance targets;
• Follow the relevant procedures and instructions to ensure compliance with Serco Automated People Mover requirements;
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental initiatives in the daily activities;
• Undertake any other tasks or functions that are incidental or ancillary to the performance of assigned work;
• Ensure effective implementation of the Safety Case and Safety Management System;
• Report any non-compliance or deviations on any violations or infringements affecting railway systems safety and/or occupational, health and safety matters;
• Knowledge and competence in technical standards will be regularly assessed;
• Produce and maintain accurate maintenance records of the various system and equipment performance, work accomplished and other information in the Competence Management System experience log book; ;
• Provides technical advice, information and instructions to other staff and trainees and ensure all drawings, diagrams, manuals and records are kept current and updated;
• Provide technical support to other staff for the implementation of complex systems or new projects;
• Perform shift and emergency duties when required;
• Drive work vehicles when responding to emergencies and when required on duty;
• Deputy to the S&C team leader when required;
• Perform and carry out duties as instructed/ directed by team leader;
• Awareness of the Integrated Management System and the content of the Health, Safety, Quality & Environment and Information Security Policy Statements; ;
• To exercise a personal duty of care for their own health, safety and welfare and for those affected by their acts or omissions;
• To use safety equipment (including PPE) as required and intended and observe that this is also enforced among subcontractors and third parties working in Serco’s controlled premises/systems
• Promote a good HSQE and Information Security culture among their peers, subcontractors and third parties;
• Protect information assets and data including both electronic and paper based from all threats whether internal, external, deliberate or accidental

Requirements

Essential qualifications
• Ideally, a Certificate or Diploma course in Electronics/Computer/Instrumentation or Electrical engineering from a recognized institution.

Essential technical, professional skills, knowledge and essential experiences
• Minimum 1 years work experience as a qualified maintenance personal in maintaining and repairing of electronic system preferably in a rail industry.
• Working knowledge in Railway Signalling & Communication would be a definite advantage
• Ability to use and calibrate various electrical and electronics test equipment and PC for the maintenance of power supply system;
• Ability to write compile simple technical reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required;
• Possess good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment;
• Strong organisational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities;
• Able to coordinate and communicate clearly and effectively with others during an incident or emergency situation;
• Able to communicate effectively through direct reports, external agencies and other third party organizations.
• Able to understand the complexity of people mover systems and demonstrate proficiency in operating the various equipment and systems;
• Understands the principles and concepts underpinning Maintenance Standards/Procedures;
• Understands the safety hazards and associated risks and mitigation measures within the automated people mover system.
• Must have good eyesight and normal color vision;
• Thorough understanding of the use, calibration and care of various electronic test equipment and ability to interpret instructions in a variety of written, verbal, pictorial forms in order to carry out the maintenance activities as required; ;
• Ideally a holder of a valid UAE driving license with good driving skill and experience
