Job Description

Assist in Kitchen Operations:

- Collaborate with the head chef and sous chefs to plan daily kitchen activities.
- Ensure adherence to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to meet customer expectations.

Supervise Kitchen Staff:

- Provide guidance and direction to kitchen personnel, including cooks, prep cooks, and kitchen assistants.
- Monitor staff performance, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct training sessions to enhance skills and maintain consistency in food preparation.

Maintain Food Safety and Sanitation:

- Enforce proper food handling procedures, including storage, labeling, and temperature control.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and sanitation standards.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential hazards.

Manage Inventory and Ordering:

- Assist in inventory management, including stock rotation and maintaining adequate supplies.
- Coordinate with suppliers to place orders for ingredients and kitchen supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and minimize waste through efficient production practices.

Contribute to Menu Development:

- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and specials.
- Experiment with ingredients, flavors, and cooking techniques to enhance menu offerings.
- Provide input on menu pricing, considering cost of ingredients and market trends.

Promote Teamwork and Communication:

- Foster a positive work environment based on teamwork, respect, and open communication.
- Encourage creativity and innovation among kitchen staff to continually improve culinary offerings.
- Address any issues or conflicts promptly and professionally.

Requirements

Qualifications

Requirements:

- Proven experience as a sous chef in a high-volume kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and sanitation practices / HACCP
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Culinary degree or certification from an accredited culinary school.
- Previous experience in menu development and costing.
- Familiarity with kitchen management software and inventory systems.
- Certification in food safety and sanitation.
