Job description / Role
Internal Controls:
- Work with management and process owners to identify the operational risks associated with the business processes
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of controls and recommend enhancement to internal controls, efficiency and processes
- Work with the process owners in developing the new procedures for improving the controls/change in procedures
- Support/advise the management in implementing the recommendations and enhancement to processes
- Work with Company management to develop a control self-assessment and self-auditing framework.
- Participate and facilitate in any other organisational initiative to promote and enhance Governance and Risk Management practices.
- Conduct periodic and ongoing reviews to ensure implementation of the controls.
- Carrying out fraud risk assessments
- Develop mechanism for tracking operational risk incidents and carrying root cause analysis to address the process/control gaps
Internal Audit:
- Carry out internal audit engagements within Company and its affiliated companies as may be assigned from time to time.
- Prepare risk and controls matrix by identifying the risks, existing controls and evaluation of the adequacy of the controls
- Develop flowcharts to document the understanding of the processes and existing controls
- Develop audit program for testing the operating effectiveness of the controls and compliance to defined processes based on the results of risks and controls evaluation
- Identify control gaps and process improvement recommendations based on the audit steps performed and validate with the process owners
- Develop audit report outlining the procedures performed, audit observations, and recommendations.
- To accomplish audit work in accordance with acceptable internal audit standards and budgets.
- Ensure compliance to International Professional Practices Framework of the Institute of Internal Auditors and other relevant standards in internal auditing.
- Others
- Working with business heads in leading business transformation initiatives as may be required to assess and enhance the processes, and performance of the business;
- Participate in business performance and due diligence reviews where needed.
- Follow up of audit findings and identifies control gaps and opportunities for improvement
- Maintaining effective working relationships with the process owners and staff in the business.
- Conduct any other related work assigned
- Carry out the assigned audit/controls review assignment within the prescribed time frame.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in internal audit or related (external audit or internal controls) experience.
- Experience in retail, distribution, Food & Beverage industry preferred
- Knowledge of internal controls framework and related standards and preferably the COSO Internal Control framework
- Working knowledge of control and risk self-assessment facilitation techniques.
- Skill in analytical reviews i.e. collecting and analyzing complex data, evaluating information and systems, and drawing logical conclusions.
- Experience in developing policies, procedures, process maps or conducting consulting assignments (Preferred)
- Ability to draft reports and to participate in presentations
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- Understanding of IIA Standards
- Experience in ERP implementation projects
- Experience in working in a fully-fledged ERP environment
- Experience in auditing IT environment/processes is preferred

- Should be highly organised, efficient, detail-oriented and able to multitask
- Considerable skill in negotiating issues and resolving problems.
- Good analytical, time management, research skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including report writing.

- Professionalism, integrity and strong work ethics combined with a cooperative attitude.
- Proficiency in English and Arabic.
