Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Job Objective:
The Structural Engineer is responsible for the inspection of contract structural design up to construction activities and also oversee the construction of new buildings, bridges, or alterations and extensions to existing properties or other structures.

Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the review of structural engineering designs and analysis of RAKP designed building or other structures done via in-house or through an appointed consultant.
• Specific attention should be given to the design methodology used followed by a full analysis of alternative design possibilities that must meet acceptable and safe design standards and should be supported by full cost estimates.
• Assist, monitor, approves, review and check all structural design drawings of the project for implementation for all RAKP projects.
• Adhere to Annual Budget setforth by the Management by proper planning, cost estimating and monitoring structural expenses as possible.
• Monitors and maintain best practice and industry benchmarks in technical and financial areas.
• To analyze and indicate the best overall cost effective structural design solution / application for each specific structures or buildings for all RAKP projects.
• All proposals, design alternatives, etc. must be fully supported by a detail cost estimate or break down by indicating savings / cost increases and design / construction times savings / escalation.
• Interact with other departments to insure compliance to established standards and to achieve over all objectives.
• In charge in making important decisions regarding project design loads based on civil and structural knowledge and requirements.
• Identifies, develops and implements new and improved programmes, policies and procedures related to structural engineering works.
• Draw design details (i.e. loads, columns, beams, etc.) of structural engineering projects and perform structural analysis of project elements involve.
• Knowledgeable and able to adhere to the latest local building and structural code.
• Update and explain building codes, safety codes, municipality requirements and other governmental procedures.
• Analyze and investigate ground conditions and to check the results of site tests such as soil samples, concrete strength test and other structural test required in a structure.
• Coordinate and liaise with consultants or contractors to ensure that newly erected buildings are structurally sound and conforms to the building code.
• Plans and monitors the design works being carried out structurally. Maintain records of tests performed and work executed.
• Coordinate with consultants or contractors and review the submitted structural designs to ensure conformity to master plan and building specifications.
• Perform other tasks assigned by the Department Head or by the Management.
• Ensure compliance with the company’s policies, rules and procedures related to Health, Safety and Environmental Management.

Requirements

Requisite Qualifications:
• Degree holder in Structural or Civil Engineering and other similar qualification.

Experience Requirement:
• At least 5-10 years of experience of which 5 years must be in a position assuming similar responsibilities with a leading organization such as Property Developers or Civil Engineering Consultants.
• Should have awareness to local, environment, authorities and latest building codes.

• Efficient and Effective Communication Skills
• Excellent Problem Solving Skills
• Good Team Player
• Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
• Knowledgeable in Structural Software such as STAAD Pro, RISA-3D, SAP2000, Etabs 2013, etc.
• Knowledgeable in the latest safety code, municipality requirements, local building and structural code
