Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Job Purpose:

To manage the laboratory facilities and provide complete diagnostic laboratory services for AWPR collection as well as to external clients. The duties will include gross and microscopic examinations, interpretation and correlation of test results, communication of results to the veterinarians, and preparation of final reports.

Key Tasks and Duties:

Supervise assigned staff to the level determined by Senior Management.
Develop and mentor progress of UAE National staff.
Manages laboratory facilities to provide excellent diagnostic laboratory services
Provide routine and/or specific veterinary pathology services for AWPR/external clients.
Study pathology material specific to virology, immunology, and infectious disease studies.
Interpret laboratory data to provide diagnostic leads in managing the health problems.
Conducts post-mortem examinations and collection of appropriate samples for further investigation.
Investigates the significance of laboratory results and correlates the findings of various tests including those of necropsies and cytology/histopathology.
Train and supervise veterinary technologists in new laboratory procedures and investigative methodologies.
Design and conduct research in the area of zoo and wildlife animal disease and publishes the data in journals of international repute.
Interact with key personnel for continuous upgrade of laboratory facilities.
Ensure compliance with safety and welfare guidelines of the state and federal regulations.
Develop and perform independent and collaborative research, with publication of results in peer
reviewed journals, presentation of findings at national and international scientific meetings
Assist in maintenance of budgets.
Undertakes similar or related tasks as directed by senior management
Ensure that all AWPR EHS policies are observed.

Requirements

Minimum : MSc in Veterinary Pathology from an accredited university
Preferred: PhD in Veterinary Pathology from an accredited university.
Must have several published research papers of international repute to his credit.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
At least 8 -10 years of experience in laboratory diagnostic work as well as teaching and research in the field of Veterinary Pathology. Must have strong scientific expertise in Veterinary Pathology and comprehensive knowledge of path physiology of animal diseases in a zoological environment with experience in caring for exotic animals.
Must have authored a number of research papers of international repute.
