Welding / Coating Inspector

Job description / Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Welding / Coating Inspector to join our team as freelancer on call out basis in the oil and gas industry in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Northern Emirates UAE. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of welding and coating processes in our projects, adhering to industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of welding and coating activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards
- Perform visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) of welds and coatings to identify any defects or non-compliance issues
- Review and interpret welding and coating procedures, specifications, and drawings to ensure proper implementation
- Collaborate with the project team to address any quality concerns and provide technical expertise on welding and coating matters
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and documentation, including non-conformance reports and corrective action plans
- Participate in internal and external audits to assess and improve the effectiveness of welding and coating processes
- Conduct pre-inspection meetings and coordinate with subcontractors and third-party inspection agencies as necessary
- Stay updated on industry developments, best practices, and regulatory changes related to welding and coating inspections

Requirements

- Certification in welding inspection (e.g., AWS CWI, CSWIP 3.1) and coating inspection (e.g., NACE CIP Level 2, SSPC PCI)
- Proven experience in welding and coating inspection within the oil and gas industry, with a strong understanding of relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, NACE, ISO)
- Proficiency in conducting visual inspections and NDT methods such as PT, MT, UT, and RT
- Familiarity with various welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GTAW, GMAW) and coating techniques (e.g., blasting, painting)
- Excellent communication and report writing skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to project stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a focus on ensuring the highest quality and integrity of welding and coating activities
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with relevant software and tools for inspection and documentation, such as MS Office and inspection reporting systems
